John Urist is the winningest driver in the NMRA with 5 championship rings under his belt, 4 championships in a row.  The real and only question is... can this man be beat?

John Urist CarHow does it feel to win back to back to back to back championships?

It feels really good! It's alot of hard work.  It's been 4 years of trying to make the car better.  Me to be the best drag racer possible, and to bring the same group of people together and do it 4 times in a row.

How was the car's performance this year? Was it consistent?  Were you having any issues with parts or was it a good year all around year?

This was one of our difficult years, we actually had alot of little problems and red lights, you know, things on my part.  It made it a little more difficult than it really needed to be considering how we qualified.  It actually wasn't a typical year for us, but it ended up the same and i think you have to have moments like that so you can enjoy when everything goes well.

You just won 4 championships in a row, next year I think some guys are going to be gunning for you.  Are you going to do anything different next year in the program?  Are you going to stay in SSO?

I'm not really sure what our plan is, I think we will evaluate.  We have a bunch of cars going in a bunch of different directions.  We have a car that I think will be competitive regardless of how the rules shake out, or we can maybe go to a different class and see what they do and we will make a decision then.

You might step up to 10.5?

Not really sure.  I just don't know, if this is the direction we go or leave it the same.  It's hard to tell.  We will have to see how it shakes down but all the cars showing this weekend was exciting, we enjoy the competition.

Is it still a challenge?  Does it get boring?

This was the least excitment but my dissapointment in the car, is the thing that did not go the way I wanted.  I feel that it should perform with the amount of effort that we put into it.  We put in alot of work and it didn't really come out.  A little frustrated but.

You don't think that you ran your best this year.  This combination might have a little more?

We actually did not run our best time we went a (7) 36 today we went a (7) 35 last year.  We really worked on the car this year, they took the blower away from us, and we changed a lot of things.  It has taken us all year to get back to where we are now.

A lot of new guys showed up to this event.  Do you think there will be more guys next year?  Filling a full field for SSO?

I think so, I think were going to.  There was a lot of guys here today and I think they'll come back next year.
